Live in Kent and be Content. Slogans such as this and "Live in Surrey free from worry" encouraged Londoners to move out to the country and to commute on the Southern's electric passenger services. This poster is by Ethelbert White (1891-1972) and dates from 1926.

It was printed by the Baynard Press. An original poster was sold, together with a "Live in Surrey..." example and "All things above were bright and fair", a 1927 poster by the same artist for Underground Electric Railways Company Ltd (a predecessor of London Underground) at auction for £1,920 in May 2007. Christie's web site shows an example of this poster selling for £3,250 (!!!) in November 2010. That was against an estimate of £600 to £800.
